The humanoid otherwise known as Mark Teixeira got drilled last night by a Jon Lester cutter and was forced to leave the game. His MRI has come back negative, alleviating any fears that the slugger would hit the disabled list with a fractured kneecap.
Teixeira, who usually has terminator-like powers when it comes to dealing with pain, could barely walk as he was helped off the field and into the clubhouse. He has been diagnosed with a contusion, which is a fancy way of saying he has a bone bruise, and will likely be out a couple of days, although I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of him being the DH in Thursday’s game.
This means that Jorge Posada will most likely be manning first base tonight as the Yankees try to even the series in the Bronx.
Something tells me that isn’t going to work out too well.
